One of our attendees registered herself twice by accident instead of registering herself and then another person. When I go into the admin panel and update one of the registration’s contact details, it then updates the other registration, too. How can I update just one of the registrations? Both registrations have payments attached to them, where one is completed (through PayPal) and the other is pending (via eCheck). I want to make sure I keep that part straight, too.

Thanks for any insight.

Hi Amy,

There should be a create contact button on the second registrant. It looks like this:

Hi Lorenzo,

No – I don’t see that. Just the second button (View/Edit Contact). The space where the Create Contact button should be is empty.

Hello,

If you do not see it, then you may be looking at the primary registrant. What do you see for the other registrant?

And to clarify, this registrant registered by entering their information for both registrations during one transaction (e.g. their contact information as the primary registrant and the additional registrant)?

No, sorry if I wasn’t clear – this person registered two separate times, but both as herself instead of once as her and once as the other person. Any ideas?

Hi Amy,

Currently you can’t reassign a registration to a new contact so editing the second registration will change the contact for both registrations.

To work around this you will need to set the original registration made in error to havea status of Cancelled, then re-create a new registration on the event using the correct details.

You can change the status of the original registration by clicking the status in that registration – http://take.ms/KD97k

(Don’t click to send the related message if you don’t want the original user to receive registration cancelled messages)

Then go to Event Espresso -> Events -> {hover over the event name} -> Registrations.

At the top of the page you will see an ‘Add new registration’ button where you can add a registration to the event through the admin.

Before running through this, which payment type is assigned to this registration that you want to change, the PayPal payment or the eCheck?

Ah. Okay – the one that needs to change is the eCheck one.

Ok, so you don’t need to remove any details until you’ve created the new registration and payment for that registration.

Open up the original transaction for the eCheck so you have the details.

In another tab create your new registration as above.

Then view the registration and click ‘View Transaction’.

You’ll see something like this – http://take.ms/yPqVF

Add a payment, select the payment method used (in your case eCheck, from PayPal?)

Then apply all of the same details from the original payment to the new one.
