When a user creates a new profile because they’re registering for an event on the site for the first time, they’re prompted to create their own password. When they successfully register for a class during the same sessions they get an email saying “Thank you for registering for NAME_OF_SITE Please find your username and password below: Username: _NAME_ Password: $P$BC4QndswJ1k7qqhwUSlwLEMORU7qXn0” with this randomly generated password, not the one they created. Why is this happening? Is that password for something else? How do I stop this?
Yes, indeed I was. I didn’t realize it. I had “Theme My Login” inserting a password which I thought was going to be the password the user created, but it was creating some random password instead.
On a related topic, on the profile page there’s a button to generate a new password. I think that’s confusing to users. Is there a setting for removing that (besides CSS) and can it be replaced with an option with 2 fields for the user to 1) create and 2) confirm a new password as you find often in user accounts on other sites?
