Hello,
I’ve like to create a restricted access userid so that users can log in to the wp-admin and only use the bar code scanner add-on.
I found this previous post: https://eventespresso.com/topic/user-account-type-for-barcode-scanning/ and I installed J Tadlock’s Members plugin.
I created a new role ‘barcodescanningpeople’ and to it I added only 9 of the capabilities listed in Josh’s post. These 3 capabilities I couldn’t find: ee_edit_checkin ee_read_checkin ee_read_registration.
I then created a new userid and gave it a role of ‘barcodescanningpeople’. I logged in as that userid and couldn’t see the event / couldn’t select the event / therefore had no data against which to scan the barcodes.
Please could you double check whether there are any other capabilities which need to be defined to that role beyond those listed in the original support post?

With regards to not being able to find the ee_edit_checkin, ee_read_checkin, and ee_read_registration capabilities, you may need to click the “All” filter tab on the left side of the capability list to display those (on the Members add/edit role page).

Many thanks Josh, that helped alot. There were a couple of additional ones on Seth’s list, which weren’t on the original. By the way, the All* list still doesn’t have those 3 I mentioned yesterday, so I still couldn’t put those in – but it seems to work without them.
