User account type for Barcode Scanning

Dear support,

I’m currently have EE4 4.8.13p, Ticketing Plug-in 1.0.3p and Barcode plugin 1.0.5.p installed. My question is, to check people in via the Barcode plugin do they need to have an administrator account in WordPress?

The reason that I’m asking is that I don’t want to create 5-6 admin accounts which have access to the whole wordpress installation just to be able scan barcodes from multiple location at our event.

Hi John,

You can actually use any type of WordPress account, because the scanner (and other EE features) checks for WP capabilities.

I recommend creating a new custom role for this (unless the scanner crew will also be doing things like editing posts, you could give them a built in role like Editor). Here’s a link to the go-to plugin for this job:
