I updated to PHP 8 and then updated database from EE3 to EE4. Then updated the application to latest version of plugin. Now I do not see the event espresso application in my WordPress site. I see it in the plugins but do not have it in the top. Can’t see my previous events. When I click on events in the plugin says don’t have access to this. Please help.

Hi there,

So you updated to EE4, ran the migrations and then update to the latest version of EE4.

The admin menu no longer showing the Event Espresso menu item suggests there was an issue adding the permissions to your admin account.

If you go to {domain}/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_maintenance_settings&action=data_reset

Do you see a page like this:
https://monosnap.com/file/jHacEysjxYoYoGa523oVO7jl4Ggcfb

If so, click on the ‘Reset Event Espresso Capabilities’ button

(Double-check you are clicking the correct section, some of the other functions on that page remove the EE data from your site)

Does the Event Espresso menu item show then?

I assume you are logged into the site as an Administrator?

Thank you – that seemed to work!

Awesome, I’m glad that helped.

Sometimes the capabilities just don’t update on the site, clicking the above button does nothing more than run the function again to add the capabilities to the admin account so you shouldn’t run into this again.
