I upgraded to 4.9.62.p and now the pages on the website will not show. When I deactivate they show again. It looks like this when not working:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ixulYy1Zxft6n_YgAkZhhMsDlYGgQTj6

But it should look like:

Hi there,

That may be the result of a theme conflict with the newer version. Can you check to see if the pages display if the theme is switched to the default theme?

I tried to switch to Twenty Seventeen and the website would not open. Should I try another theme?

Our theme is Aeolus-Child.

Another theme will do the same if there’s an activated plugin that depends on the Aeolus-Child theme being activated.

Here’s another approach that will help narrow down the cause to lead the way to a solution:

Install the Health Check plugin, activate Event Espresso 4, then go to WP → Dashboard → Heath Check → Troubleshooting. There you’ll Enable Troubleshooting Mode, then once that’s activated you’ll reactivate Event Espresso only via the Health Check’s Troubleshooting item in the WP admin bar. At that point, can you check to see if the issue persists?

At that point you can try re-activating the theme and other plugins via the Troubleshooting menu. If the breakage can be narrowed down to a single plugin or the theme we can go from there.

I got Health Check but when I went to “Enable Troubleshoot Mode” I got the error “We were unable to create the mu-plugins directory.”

FYI I deactivated every plugin but event espresso and the website still does not work. Must be a theme issue?

Another update, sorry, with everything deactivated I could switch to Twenty Seventeen and then the website worked with Event Espresso active.

We want to retain our theme if possible though.

Quite possibly. If you switch to the parent theme (Aeolus) does the breakage still occur?

Yes the breakage still occurs with the parent theme (Aeolus).

If you can upload a zip file of the Aeolus theme to a file sharing service like Dropbox, then post a link to download the file here we can comb through the theme code to find out what’s going on. It may be possible to change something in the theme to allow WordPress pages to be displayed when Event Espresso is activated.

Okay – sounds good. To get a zip of the theme, should I go to Tools -> Export?

You will not find a zip file of the theme there. Usually that’s something that you download from your Themeforest account, because that’s where the Aeolus theme is sold.

If that’s not an option you could log into your web server’s control panel and use the file manager there to make a copy of the theme from the /wp-content/themes folder, then zip it up by using the Compress tool also available there.
