For some bizarre reason, my site started throwing what appeared to be PHP errors at the top and bottom of the site. To my knowledge, no changes were made. I did some troubleshooting and saw that WP 3.5 required updates to EventEspresso so I did the upgrade.

I’m now at 3.1.29 and Calendar 2.0.4 on self-hosted WP 3.5.

The dashboard seems OK but the site is totally hosed. All I get on http://alternativebehaviorconsultants.com is a bunch of errors and my client isn’t happy:

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/var/chroot/home/content/29/5387629/tmp/sess_steb3kjup501nibtnt05vngdv7, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in /home/content/29/5387629/html/wp/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/espresso.php on line 53

UPDATE:

The dashboard is NOT working either. I logged out and back in. I get a string of PHP errors and the login window. Once I entered the user/pass, all I could get was more errors – no dashboard at all.

The only way I could get to the dashboard was to FTP to the site and change the name of the plugin folder.

I’m getting desperate here!

Hi there,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you are having. Is this site hosted on Godaddy? If so, can you check with them about why the session.save_path setting isn’t allowing PHP to write session data?

This has come up before in the past with some other customers on Godaddy where at some the session.save_path had been changed or even set to not allow session data to be written.

If they say everything is looking good on their end, you might try deactivating non-EE plugins to rule out any possible conflicts, and verify that all the Event Espresso add-ons have been updated to the latest versions.

Josh,

You may be on to something. Now that I think about it, GoDaddy is the host and the just migrated the site to their “4th generation” grid. I’ll get with them (groan) and see if they can fix it there.

Stay tuned!

That did the trick. GoDaddy said something about an empty temp folder that didn’t migrate to the grid. They fixed it instantly. I’m marking this as resolved with many thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Hi Tom,

You’re welcome, and thanks for letting us know that this was resolved. I’ll keep that in mind about the empty temp folder.
