Upgrade manually REMOVES all events?

Due to a license bug (submitted a reset request) we cannot update EE via the auto-update feature. Documentation on manual updates seems to remove all events!!
How can we update without loosing all our events? Does the automatic upgrade clear all event data also?
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/updating-event-espresso/

Please advise ASAP. We have a new class semester starting on Monday.

Thanks

Hi Jill,

What version of Event Espresso are you updating from?

Unless it is a very old version, event data is not removed, it remains in the database. Occasionally a setting will reset on update but that’s about it.

We do still recommend backing your database up before updates (regarding of whether you are updating Event Espresso, a third party plugin or WordPress, backing up is a wise thing to do!)

Hi Dean,

We are upgrading from version .28 to .33P

When I followed the instructions for a manual update (including deleting the plugin) the events were removed on our dev site.

Have you cleared the license key 1db23f6b994435917719beb35efe39e6? I need it to try an automatic update of our live site.

thanks,

Josh

Hi Jill,

The key is not tied to a domain, so it can be added to the field in the General settings page.

If you go to the Event overview in the new version, you’ll see that the Event filtering now defaults to displaying only OPEN events. If you would like to pull up the older event you can change the Status Filter to ALL or inactive.

Hi Dean,

Thanks for resetting the license. It worked long enough for me to auto upgrade the EE core. Yes, the events are still there.

However, now it is back to the warning “this license can only be used on one domain.” I didn’t use it on any other domain! All I did was upgrade EE core plugin.

Can you please reset again or figure out why this license bug keeps appearing??

Thanks

Jill,

I recreate your licence key completely. Can you remove the one on your site and save the settings. Then go to your account page on eventespresso.com and obtain the new key and add it to your site.

Hopefully that will resolve the issue.
