Hi Garth,

Is it a realistic thought to upgrade from EE3 to EE4.

This depends if EE4 currently includes your required functionality. Do you currently use Promo codes for example? As the current release of EE4 does not support them. Also EE4 currently supports non of the EE3 Add-on’s.

Will there be many headaches in doing this?

This depends on the Theme and plugins your are currently using. EE4 follows the WordPress guidelines/standards as closely as possible, unfortunately if other plugins or your theme are not this can cause problems.

We recommend updating EE3 to EE4 on a STAGING server first (this can be either live or local but should be a duplicate of your current site to give accurate results) if you have no issues on this staging server it is likely you will have no issues on Live, but it is always a good idea to perform a full site backup before updating any Plugins/Themes

What does it cost to do this?

EE4 is included with all EE3 license’s so there is currently no additional cost to use EE4 (this will remain this way until whilst the price of EE4 is cheaper than EE3)

You can migrate your site from EE3 yourself or we offer a migration service in-case of issues.
