Updating to EE 4.10.6.p affects the create/edit event form

We have updated EE plugin to 4.10.6.p.
Now admin reports the create post form
/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_events&action=create_new&create_new_nonce=a96fa41f38
does not work as it did previously
– In section Event Tickets and Datetimes section – Calendar popup does not load when clicking on Date field.
– In section Venue details, when selecting a venue from the dropdown, the venue address is no longer populated in the form.

Can you provide help to restore the previous form functionality?
tx

Hi Trevor,

Did you also update WordPress to 5.5+ at the same time?

The issues you’ve mentioned above use JavaScript and WP5.5 caused issues for a lot of plugins using old JavaScript functions. We’ve not had any issues with EE itself but if other plugins are adding scripts to the event editor and then those are throwing errors it prevents our JS from working.

If you open up Chrome Dev Tools and look in the Console section when you are on the event editor does it show any errors when you try either of the above? (Or just when you open the editor itself)

You can try just installing this plugin on the site:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/

That adds a ‘migrate script’ that hold the older functions some plugins are using to allow them to work. It’s not considered a permanent fix as the scripts need to be updated, but it’ll keep things working whilst you investigate/update/change plugins.

Did you also update to the latest version of Divi?

Hi –

Yes Divi is up to date…. but the issue is on the basic event admin form – Divi doesn’t appear to be involved in presenting it.

Literally anything loading scripts on the event admin page could be causing it, including Divi.

EE4 itself has no known conflicts with WP5.5 but anything else loading on the page can break its functionality because of how JavaScript works and it’s not uncommon at all for plugins/themes just to load scripts everywhere.

Divi is at least trying to load .js files on that page, from your error log above:

DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for https://cbiaorg.com/wp-content/themes/Divi/includes/builder/scripts/page-settings-metabox.js.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE

The error you’ve referenced leads to this WP Core Trac ticket: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/51123

Which states this was fixed in 5.5.1, yet I can see you’re already running 5.5.1

Are you using any plugins to do any caching or minifying .js files within admin? If so clear the cache.

Failing that we may need to run through full troubleshooting, disabling all plugins to test if it works with just Event Espresso running on your site.
