updating event urls after changing site url

After changing my WP site urls (moved from a subdirectory to the main directory), and after running the Velvet Blues UPDATE URLS plugin, the urls for the EE events did not update. When they are listed as upcoming events, they still have the subdirectory within the URL. Same for any new events I create. Where does EE keep this info so I can update it?

Hi there,

After changing my WP site urls (moved from a subdirectory to the main directory), and after running the Velvet Blues UPDATE URLS plugin, the urls for the EE events did not update.

Can you post how you did this, please?

When they are listed as upcoming events, they still have the subdirectory within the URL.

Unless you are using the ‘Alternative Registration URL’ option within the event, EE doesn’t store a URL for the event. EE Events are a custom post type as use the wp core function get_permalink() to generate the URLs.

What is currently set as your sites permalink option?

You’ll find that in Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks.

Hi. Thanks for responding quickly.
I did 2 things:
1. I changed the settings in WP-Admin for WordPress Address and Site Address by specifying only the root domain with no subdirectory.
OLD URLs were: http://domain.com/sub-dir
NEW URLs are http://domain.com
2. I changed .htaccess in the root folder and redirected all traffic to the sub-dir.
3. After visiting the new URL, I went to the permalinks page and saved settings with the choice of Post Name (same as before)
4. I used the “Velvet Blues” plugin which is a tool to updates URLS in pages, posts, links, excerpts, and attachments.

All of this worked fine.

I am not using the Alternative Registration URL.

If the events use a custom post type and the permalink settings, there must be a lingering setting with the old URL that includes the subdirectory. I could start searching the database tables to see what table and field may be the culprit.

Please let me know if there are other places I can check.
thx.

Ok. I found the culprit. My HTTPS plugin settings needed to be changed. I used the new URL without the sub-dir.
All looks good now – events are using the correct URL.
Thank you. You can close this.
