Updating EE Best Practices

Hi,

I see there is an update with EE/Personal and I wanted to give my EE-using client the proper method for making updates. I was waiting to do a batch of updates at the same time. As EE is a complex ‘plugin’ I wasn’t sure if it made a difference what order I made updates. I assumed updating WordPress would be first, but some initial research tells me that may not be the case.

Of course I have them backup everything completely first with Backupbuddy.

Can you advise what is the best order to update these items:

Wordpress update to 3.7.1

Event Espresso update

Theme Update – if any –

Usual WordPress plugins like Askimet, NexGEN Gallery, etc. – nothing tricky

Thanks in advance.

J.

EE P / MER / WP 3.6.1

Between the WP theme and other plugins, those are mostly dependent on the version of WP core. So for example, if the theme requires that the latest version of WordPress is installed, then you’ll want to be sure to update WordPress core first, before updating theme.

When you update Event Espresso, and there are updates available for the main plugin and its add-ons, we are recommending updating Event Espresso’s add-ons first, then updating Event Espresso core.
