I am using a combination of Event Espresso (3.1.29.1.P) and Event Espresso – Calendar (2.0.4). The host my client uses has never functioned well when it comes to updating via 1-click, so I end up manually updating all WordPress plugins. I used the “does not have automatic updating feature” updating procedure on this page: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/updating-event-espresso/
but upon review, the process deleted all events. Thankfully a solid backup was created and I was able to roll back, but I am now stuck with an old version.
Is there a different method that might keep my events from being deleted? It isn’t an immediate problem at the moment, but over time I’d obviously like to have it updated.
I’m sorry for the trouble. We have not seen it where updating has deleted events, were you able to verify that the events were actually missing from the database?
It may have been the new event filtering that the event overview uses had filtered all events from the event overview. In the newer versions, it defaults to showing only open events that haven’t been taken place yet. You can still display older events by changing the status filter in the event overview.
