Just updated our website to 4.4.1. It ask to update the database as well. When we did that it broke ALL the custom event links, .i.e. [EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW event_category_id=”babysitting” ]

It worked perfectly prior to the update. Id there some conflict between the new WP update and the short code in EE3

Note: We’re using the latest EE3 release too.

Hi Joe,

What happens when you view the page? Do you just see the shortcode itself?

If you edit one of the pages using the above shortcode, remove the double quotes around the category id, so it looks like this:

[EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW event_category_id=babysitting]

Does it then work?

I figured it out. I guess the short code has changed? Once I changed the short code to [EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW category_identifier=babysitting] it worked again. I’ve since changed all the rest and they are working now too.

Thank you very much for the quick response, I do appreciate it.

It turns out that the shortcode API in WP 4.4 was tightened up. Before, there was a bug that just happened to allow those curly quotes. Now that it’s fixed, the quotes will break the shortcode parser.
