This new update has taken me for quite a ride…there should be some safer way to push updates. Our site relies critically on Event Espresso and it’s been disabled for a large part of today. I put in a lot of customizations that created a great user experience for our association’s website – even after following instructions for retaining old customizations i.e. using the /uploads/ directory, I have found myself putting in considerable time and making little progress to get things back to where they should be. An example, the gateway display file switched the text: “Please choose a payment option” from H3 to H2 through this update. Authnet SIM doesn’t work like it used to either…just a couple items I need immediate help with below:

I can no longer run Authorize.net SIM like I used to. I used to have folks add items (multiple regs) to their cart and then they’d be able to review their cart (Payment Overview) where they would see a button that says “Click to Pay by Credit Card.” This would send data over to Authnet, they’d pay authnet and return to my nicely styled Thank You URL (I’m using https). Now…in the new files, the authorize.php file doesn’t work because it needs to pass a huge string, filled with delimiters () and ellipsis (there are no special characters in my Event Title), and the double quote at the end of $value” turns into a left quote when the page is rendered. This prevents the following line <input class="espresso_payment_button_'…… to be displayed. As a result I have had to set my Authnet SIM to skip the Payment Overview….please help to fix this.

Since I'm skipping the Payment Overview page for now, I am also noticing another problem — even if I register multiple attendees only the first attendee's name comes up on the AuthNet payment screen (notice in the picture that each ticket is worth $70).

Prior to the payment overview screen (which gets bypassed right now after a brief wait), is the attendee information screen. This screen is delivered by cart.php which gets rid of my sidebar and drops it into the main content area…I'm perplexed as to where to begin. Please help me I can provide admin access.

Hi there,

It sounds like the issue is from having a lot of customizations made. Can you let us know which files were customized?

One thing to keep in mind about making customizations to any files: When you update, you need to make sure that the files you customized are in sync with the new version. For example, if we fix a bug that affects pricing, we may need to make an adjustment to the registration page template as part of that fix. If you’re still running the registration page template from an older version of Event Espresso in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates that is overriding the newer version, the adjustments in the new version will not be part of the reg page.

Seth mentioned that he wouldn’t mind someone looking through the files you’ve customized to see if there was anything we could help with, but please understand that we cannot support customizations made to any Event Espresso files.

If you’d like, you can send login details via this page:
