I upgraded to 3.1.35.P. Now Event Espresso display only in default (smoothness) template. I have tried deleting /uploads/espresso folder, and resetting the templates from Settings. Regardless of which template I choose, it is displayed only in default template. I am not using any cache plugin. I also tried emptying browser cache. Nothing helped.

Hi,

I cannot recreate this locally at all. Went to check your site to see what is being displayed and I am getting a Forbidden 403 error message.

I am assuming that in the Template Settings the option is saving, and not changing back to Smoothness? It is just from the front end it is staying as Smoothness?

HI Dean,

I am not sure why you had 40 Forbidden error. The template Settings option is saving, and changing back to Smoothness. However, the fro t end display only smoothness, regardless of which Themroller template I choose in template Setting.

Hi Suhaib,

We can see all templates have been copied to wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates

Have you modified any of the template files there? I would advise firstly to remove any files/folders which have NOT been modified from that folder.

Event Espresso uses this folder for any themes/templates first and may well be causing your issue.

Hi Tony,
I removed the unmodified one. However as I mentioned in my original post, that, even removing the uploads/espresso folder and resetting templates in the Settings did not help. Thus deleting uploads/espresso folder should use plugins/event-espresso/templates? However that did not resolve the issue. The problem came as soon as I upgraded to 3.1.35P.

Apologies, I completely misses that line in your previous post.

I’m curious as to whether or not your server has any cache setup. I know you have not got any yourself, but your host may have it configured.

You could try setting wp_deubg to true in wp-config.php and updating the Template Settings, see if it displays any error messages?

Those errors should not be a problem.

Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this?

If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

Please note the login details need to be Admin level.

Hi Tony I sent it. I do not see your name in the pull down of Support Staff, so I chose Dean Robinson.

Thank you Suhaib.

That’s fine, the name is there for our reference but as I knew the details were being sent I found them.

Looking into this now.

Hi Suhaib,

You currently have Legacy Style-sheets enabled, this disables the alternative styles.

If you press the blue ? next to ‘Legacy Styles’ it describes what is happening.

The CSS rules within the uploads folder are overriding the themeroller settings. Remove those other files (keep your modified .php files) and set Legacy style sheets to ‘No’

I would recommend you keep a backup of your uploads/espresso locally before removing just in-case of an modifications you may have forgotten about. You could even do a full backup as is good practice

Basically, if the only two files that have been edited are event_list.php and event_list_display.php then they are the only files that should be within uploads/espresso.

Does that help?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your help. No it did not help. I had already tried it yesterday. Also, the Legacy Style-sheet was enabled yesterday while was trying to figure out why front end did not display chosen template. I had disabled it. Should deleting the upload/espresso folder had helped? As it forces to use templates from wp-contents/plugins/espresso? It was the first thing, I tried yesterday.
Following your advice above did not resolve the issue. It is pepper-grinder themroller in the settings, but front end display only smoothness. I had tried almost every template from themroller but it did not help. The issue came as soon as I upgraded to version 3.1.35P. I had even last night reinstall Event Espresso 3.1.35.P with no success to resolve the template issue.

Hi Suhaib,

I apologise for not catching this earlier. Custom contact form is loading its own version of jquery-ui.css which is overriding Event Espresso’s version, that is what is causing the issue.

Tony
Thanks a lot for catching this.

Custom Contact Form has an option to disable Jquery. It is not needed except that without their juery tooltip does not work. Disabling Jquery in Custom Contact Form setting, resolved the issue. So, you know for your record of plugins which conflicts.
