Update not working

We were having issues with the plugin and after reading the forums we realized that some of the issues that we were having -specially adding an event could be fixed with the upgrade. The upgrade was uploaded to the website, but we are getting the following error.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare espresso_version() (previously declared in /home/communit/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso.3.1.11.P/espresso.php:34) in /home/communit/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso.3.1.24.1.P/espresso.php on line 36

You need to deactivate the old version before activating the new version.

Thanks one more question will I loose all of my settings?

You shouldn’t, but I always recommend backing up the database first, that’s where all the settings are stored.
