Wow. Every single time I have tried to update EE, whether from a download or from the WP dashboard, there is some kind of snafu.
Once again, trying to update from the WP plugins dash — this time from 3.1.29.1 to 3.1.29.4, I see the error message about needing a valid site key to upgrade automatically. And my current membership not allowing upgrade for more than one domain.
I have a valid site key active on only one domain.
I am very sorry for the trouble. I have reset your license key. Please remove the key from the field in your settings, save, then reenter the key and save again.
Please note that the latest version is 3.1.30.4.
