Hi there, firstly I apologize if I have missed the answer to my question…I dug and dug and couldn’t find anything relevant to the current version. Anyhow here’s what I’m after – on my clients site (http://imind.ca/events-calendar/) the widget is only showing events Jan – Feb. Is there any way to make it show events further in the future? Ideally the client says “Is it possible to have events on the left scroll with month view and have future events showing?” Now I know that this scroll with month view is highly unlikely but it is a necessary for her to be able to show more of the future events than just those up to Feb. 22 — especially since today is the 19th. It’s not really useful for the old ones to show and not the new ones. Can someone please help me with this? Oh and one other thing that would great would be to change the width of the large calendar that shows on the page I’ve given the link to as I have a social sharing thing that when enabled in wants to run down the right side of the page but it can’t align nicely because the calendar is filling the width available. Anyone? Thanks in advance. ๐ |

Hey Shayne, OK for this
head over to Widgets, and open the upcoming events widget so you see its options and change the limit amount http://d.pr/i/VLO2 You can specify what events will be shown (eg from this date to that date) but you can at least show more. Also you can exclude/include closed events etc. Calendar width – the calendar is responsive and will be affected by CSS, so you can either wrap the shortcode on the page in a div with some inline css eg:
or target it with css via the themes style.css using Regarding the linking between the main calendar and that widget, well, it might be possible but you would be looking at loading X number of posts, lets say 200, and then using jquery to hide them and show depending on what the calendar is showing – basically maybe possible but would require some custom development and may affect load times/site speed, and also may be issues for those with no javascript on. |

Hi Dean, Thanks for your help! I changed the Upcoming Events to 50 items, and now I get a all the items (up to 50). ๐ Also, thanks for the suggestion to change calendar width. That works, unfortunately my social share stuff still wants to push it down so I guess that’s not going work. I’ll have to go back to the drawing board and find a social share that will reside vertically along the bottom or whatever content is on the page. Rats! What’s really strange is that is where it shows up on the posts in the blog section so I don’t know why it has to be different for pages than posts but it is. I hate to but I may be forced to rip into the css for the plugin but I generally try to avoid those kind of changes because then I have to recall them whenever there’s an update – which is fine if it were one website, but sprinkle that situation across 60 or 70 clients sites and the variety of plugins in use and just that could make for a full time headache. LOL |

Hey Shayne, I’m glad you got most of it sorted. Yeah social plugins are always a pain, we seem to find they conflict the most with EE. Generally it is a Javascript issue, but I cannot see any issues on the calendar page – did you turn it off for pages? |
|
Hi Dean, yes I turned it off for pages and just on for posts. It’s only the page where I have the EE calendar that it poses a problem. All the other pages shift nicely to let it run down the side but unfortunately I can’t selectively leave it off chosen pages…it’s not the end of the world. I’ll just keep digging and see if I can find something else that will play nice with EE. |
