Hi there, Recently I noticed that there is a Discussion bar at the bottom of all pages. How can I remove it. I checked and it has something to do with the with EE. Please let me know how I can get rid of it. It attracts more spam!!

Hi Ted,

The discussion bar is not related to Event Espresso.

I cannot see anything to say a plugin added it, so I would assume it is the themes way of styling the comment section on posts/pages.

You can turn off the comments on pages either via the theme s options or if you edit the page (in the case Event Registration) and turn off the comments there (you may need to click Screen Options in the top right and then tick the Discussion tickbox and then scroll down to find the newly visible Discussion area.)

Hi Dean,
I turned off the discussion and it is still there at the bottom of all pages not the blog posts! If I change the theme of EE the design of discussion box changes as well. Here is a screen shot of the page
Screenshot of Discussion Box
Please take a look and let me know. I disabled comments for the entire site.

Hi Jill, Did you fix it? I can not see it in your website.

Dean It is definitely related to EE. I deactivate EE and problem solved! I reactivate it and it came back!! Can you please look at it?

Ted,

Event Espresso doesn’t have any kind of comment system in place. I’m not sure why it disappears when the plugin is deactivated, but I would check the theme files or try switching to a different theme temporarily to see what happens.

Hi Ted,

As Seth says, we have no commenting or discussion system in place in Event Espresso. I double checked the themes demo site and they do have that style of commenting system in the theme, so it is the theme adding it to the Page.

If you disabled comments for the site in Settings > Discussion this will not disable comments for existing pages, you need to edit the Event Registration page, turn on the Discussion box if not already on and disable comments there.

This may still leave you with a note at the bottom saying “Comments Closed” or something similar, or it may remove it, it depends on the theme in question.

I changed the theme to 2012 and still can see the discussion part. It dose not let you to write anything but the tracking is there, same with my theme.

In that case, you may want to start deactivating any other plugins, one by one, to see if that has any affect.

Just curious, when did this start appearing? Have any other developers modified your installation?

Ted,

Also, did you try what dean suggested?

If you disabled comments for the site in Settings > Discussion this
will not disable comments for existing pages, you need to edit the
Event Registration page, turn on the Discussion box if not already on
and disable comments there.

It sounds like that should fix it.
