After the upgrade, the previous event in Event Espresso contains the message “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”.

I have not received any emails that I can see. Trying to edit the event shows the same error.

Additional info:
I upgraded the plugin, backed up the database using myphpadmin in the hosting portal, and then updated PHP. I was then able to activate the plugin but received an error that a DB script had to run. I ran the script and after received the error message “There has been a critical error on this website” when viewing an event. I’m also unable to see the database tables anymore using the phpmyadmin utility.

I verified I can now use the phpmyadmin utility, but still have not received any emails regarding the error message

Sorry for the SPAM, I worked with the hosting provider and could not find a solution. I then uninstalled the plugin, downloaded the latest from your site and installed, this did not fix anything. I then uninstalled the plugin and installed the free version from wordpress, once I activated it the entire site went down.

Got the site back up and plugin re-installed (event-espresso-core-reg.zip). I now receive the following error message when viewing a previously configured event

It seems you have the same problem with this thread.
https://eventespresso.com/topic/updating-to-php-7-4-fatal-error/

please check your hosting about this. Btw, EE fully support 8.0php, if you like to update on that version, that is much better. Thanks

thanks.

Hi there,

I’m glad the above fixed it for you.

Just to note, PHP7 has now been End Of Life (EOL) for over a year:

https://www.php.net/eol.php

If you have the option to update to PHP8 I would recommend doing so but it depends if all of your plugins support PHP8 or not at this time.

I asked the hosting provider, they only support 7.4 for now but are working on getting 8 supported. I will upgrade once I am able to. Thanks again.
