Hi. I created a back-up of my website (which uses EE) in order to create a cloned site for experimenting on. I went into the admin (of the cloned site) and de-activated EE. Around the same time, my colleague reported that she received two emails from separate past registrants in 2018 and 2019, each saying they had received emails from the site with their registration details. Can you please advise? Thank you.

Hi,

One thing you could do is set the Message settings (on both sites) to clean up old messages that are older than 3 months. You go to Event Espresso > Messages > Settings and change the setting there.

Also, if you suspect the newly cloned site might be sending messages from its cloned message queue, you could delete all the messages there in Event Espresso > Messages.

Finally, if you intend to do further experiments on the cloned site, it might be good to install this plugin:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-emails/

Please take care not to install the above on the production site though.
