Uninstall and start over?

I have seemed to have major problems ever since I installed EE, but now they are more than in the beginning. I looked into documentation about uninstalling or reinstalling and couldn’t really find any good ideas. I know this sound crazy and I would hate to loose all my event information, but I really can’t find any other solutions and I just keep loosing money and clients because of the poor usability of my events and in fact now paypal doesn’t work at all.

Has anyone gotten to this point?

Jules

Hi Julie,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you are having. I can work with you to help get the PayPal gateway working. You sent us an email with a link to your registration page, and I’m looking at the payment page right now. As it stands, there are some 404 errors when I view the source of the page that indicate that there is are two versions of Event Espresso in the plugins directory. One is named event-espresso, the other event-espresso2. I’m not sure why that’s the case, but it may be causing the payment page to not work.

I first recommend installing a fresh copy of Event Espresso installed to address the payment page working again. Here’s what you can do:

1) Back up the database.

2) Deactivate the version of Event Espresso that is installed right now, and deactivate the add-ons too.

3) Delete the Event Espresso plugin, both them, (event-espresso and event-espresso2).

4) If there are any files in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates and/or /wp-content/uploads/espresso/gateways, back these up somewhere and delete them from those locations

5) Download a fresh copy of Event Espresso from your account page and install.

6) After activating Event Espresso, you can go to the Event Espresso>Payment settings page and deactivate then reactivate the PayPal gateway to reset it.

Your events will still be in the database, so you will not need to re-enter them.

After you do that, please let us know if that helped, and please let us know about the usability issues you are having and we may be able to help with that too.
