Hi there, Which specific version number of Event Espresso are you using? |
I am using Version 3.1.37.3.P |
The latest version of EE3 is 3.1.37.18.P Do you have the same issue with the latest version of EE3? EE3 is now considered out legacy version and will be deprecated at some point in the near future (within the next 12 months) Is there something preventing you from updating to the latest version of Event Espresso? (Event Espresso 4) |

Hi there, When you first activate EE4 it will attempt to pull in all of your EE3 details over to EE4 itself, you simply need to work through the migration steps (start a migration, wait, accept and then continue with the next migration step until complete).
Becuase EE4 is a different system to EE3 the best thing you can do to test a migration is to clone the site and run the migration there. So create a development/staging copy of the current live site, install EE4 on that site and migrate over to see if any errors are thrown. We recommend doing this on a subdomain site using the same server, that way you know of any server config issues you may run into. If you run into issue on the stating/dev site we can help work through those to find the cause so that when you migrate the live site those can either be patched ahead of time or worked around etc. |

I have created staging environment and Installed EE4 at staging Env. Getting error: Action taken : Problem statment: Is there any fasaterd way to communicate with support team to communicate. and configure EE4. |
Where are you getting that error? We do not have a Moneris payment method for EE4 but that should not prevent the migration. However, you won’t be able to use Moneris with EE4.
Can you post a screenshot of the error?
My replies in this thread have all been within a few hours of your posts? |

Hi, Question: 1) How can I migrate my all the events, registered data from EE3 to EE4? 2) How Can Reconfigured all the shortcode and backend as its was EE3? 3) How can I get Migration process steps. Which I never got when EE4 activated. 4) Is there any export and Import available? |
Hi there, #1-3 is all handled within the migration scripts within EE4. On initial activation EE4 will check for EE3 tabls/options and if it finds them offer to migrate your data over. However, it will only do this on the initial activation so if you ever activate EE4 to test it out and carried on using EE3 and now have updated it wont show the migration options. Go to Event Espresso -> Maintenance -> System information. Search for ‘ee activation history’ Is EE4 listed in that section at all prior to the version you are currently using? (Note it is possible to force Event Espresso 4/5 to wipe all of its current data and migrate from EE3 again but I’m confirming that is possible with the above check. Before moving forward from here make sure you have a FULL database backup) |
When I initially activated it, I encountered an error stating “The moneris_hpp gateway does not exist in EE 4.1,” as mentioned earlier in the provided details. Next : I followed the steps to activate EE3, removed all the payment options, and then reactivated EE4. However, I did not come across any migration option during this process. Attached Screenshot for “ee activation history” Question: |

I have Created another enviroment to start migrate from first Steps I have taken: Can you please help me to resolve above isssues ASAP? Question: |
So this is on a staging site? Go to Event Espresso -> Maintenance. At the top of the page will be a Reset/Delete Data tab, click that. Then click on ‘Permanently Delete All Event Espresso Data’ That will drop ALL EE4/5 tables (NOT your EE3 tables) and reset EE to its initial activation. Re-activate EE5.0.7 and it should show you the option to migrate again. |

I have begun the migration process from EE3 to EE4, and it has detected more than 2,500,000 records to be migrated. However, I am facing challenges as the process is taking a considerable amount of time, and interruptions such as internet outages or power cuts are causing the migration to stop abruptly. I am actively exploring ways to optimize the process while any interruptions to ensure a successful and seamless migration. 1) Is there any ways to migrate step by steps? |
It already migrates in stages, with steps of 50 records at a time. The number of records per step can be increased but that will also depend on your server being able to handle that amount of data on each step.
Sorry, I don’t understand this, can you explain further? — There isn’t a way for us to be able to migrate the data if your internet/power goes down. We can’t continually run processes on the site when your browser is not active (PHP has a max_execution_time limit) and that’s a lot of data to migrate. In short, EE already migrates in stages but 2.5 millon rows is a lot of data regardless. |
1) Is it possible to perform a data migration for a specific date range, such as migrating data from 1st August to 3rd August 2023? 2) Anything like only attendees should be migrate? |
Good question, we don’t have the option to migrate specific ranges at this time.
You can’t migrate ‘only’ attendees as they have related data, such as the events linked to the attendees, the datetime, the ticket, the payment and the list goes on. Migrations aren’t a simple process there’s a LOT of related data within EE so you can’t just pick and choose the sections you may want. |
1) Do you offer any paid migration service or options for transitioning from EE3 to EE4 ? 2) If not, what would be the procedure to delete all records that are dated earlier than 2020? |
We don’t and part of the reason we do not is you would basically be paying for us to sit and watch the screen as the progress bar ticks over. As you’ve mentioned you have a lot of data and migrating it would take time. Support tokens provide 30mins of dedicated support time which I’m sure you can imagine is going to mount up for tasks like the above.
You would do that within the EE3 and need to manually remove the attendees for each event and then delete the event in question. There’s no batch method currently. I’ll double check with out developers to confirm there no filters within the migration script that would allow you to specify a date range. |
