Fatal error: Cannot redeclare espresso_version() (previously declared in /wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/espresso.php:48) in /home/spirosbar/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/espresso.php on line 35

I reset the license key however I noticed it is the same exact key as before. Is that supposed to happen?

Hi,

Resetting the key simply removes the domain that is associated to that key, the key will remain the same but can then be re-assigned to a domain.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare espresso_version() (previously declared in /wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/espresso.php:48) in /home/spirosbar/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/espresso.php on line 35

Means you have both EE3 and EE4 activate at the same time.

To update to EE4 you need to de-activate and delete EE3, then activate EE4.

To note, it is recommend to do this on a development copy of the site first and check the update all goes well, then update the live site. EE4 is a completely new system compared to EE3, be sure you have a full site back before updating.
