Unable to Register Using Firefox

We are in the process of setting up our first event using Event Espresso 4. The process works without a hitch in Chrome. However, in Firefox, we are not able to get past selecting a quantity. When we select a quantity and then click “Register Now,” we are redirected to a page with the error “Nothing in your Event queue.” If we follow the link to “select at least one event,” we get into the same loop.

In the Support Forum I have read a few things about de-activating certain plug-ins to get EE to work in Firefox, however, we do not have any of those plug-ins installed.

The event is https://www.corelearn.com/events/online-elementary-reading-academy/.

Thanks for any advice and insight!

Hi,

To help explain what’s happening, this isn’t a works in Chrome, doesn’t work in Firefox issue. It’s actually a “works when I’m logged in, doesn’t work when I’m logged out” issue. You’ll find the same error if you log out of the site, and try the registration using the Chrome browser (or use Chrome’s Incognito feature).

The good news is this is a very simple fix because the site is hosted on WPEngine. What you’ll do is contact WPEngine support and ask them to add cache exclusions for the registration-checkout, thank-you, and events pages.

Thanks for the quick response, and quick fix. This leads to another question… Does this mean that in order for a potential attendee to register they have to be logged into the site? We do not have users/accounts with this site other than WordPress administrators.

No, they do not need to be logged in after WPEngine staff adds the no-cache exclusions. The no-cache exclusions will allow the registration pages to work as expected for everyone, whether they’re logged in or not logged in.

The reason it works OK now if you’re logged in is because when you’re logged in you’re served a non-cached version of the page.
