Trashing ticket does not reduce the Sold count

I have someone who can’t come, but when I Trash their registration, the number of tickets sold for the event does not change. It should go down, shouldn’t it since that seat now becomes available?

Yes, it should and I’ve just tested this on a couple of test sites to confirm.

Can you add some screenshots that show the steps you are taking so I can try and reproduce this?
