Hi, are struggling with translating the popup that shows when adding an event to the event list. Is Return to Event List and View Event Cart translatable? Can’t find it in the po/mo-file and no information in this forum. We also want to define the link that Return to Event list goes to, it is a no content page today.

Yes, and the word Promotion Code is also not in the event-espresso-4 language file. Where to translate that?

Return to Event List and View Event Cart translatable?

Pretty much everything in Event Espresso is translatable and if it’s not…. it likely should and we get untranslatable strings fixed 🙂

However, both of those strings can be translated, they use a placeholder which makes it a little harder to locate but:

‘Return to Event’ List uses ‘Return to %s’ (the %s is a placeholder, which is the string for whatever you call the Event Cart, default is ‘Event Cart’).

‘View Event Cart’ uses ‘View %s’

Can’t find it in the po/mo-file and no information in this forum.

Which MO/PO files are you using? The above links to the latest versions and it sounds like the PO file you are using is outdated.

We also want to define the link that Return to Event list goes to, it is a no content page today.

We have a filter for this:

Set the URL you wish to use in that function and you can add that to a custom functions plugin on your site, we have some documentation on creating one here:

Hi, thank you for your answers, they all do give sence, but when doing it, it do not work properly. No strings are translated, also deleted cache on page.

I have now found the strings in the po/mo-file, is it correct to upload it to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/ ? Will it then override any languagefiles from eventespresso?

Regarding the Return to Events lists link; is it possible to use the filter to link it back to the event they came from? Know there is the possibility to X it out, but we get feedback from people clicking on it and end up at that empty page. We wanted to translate it to ‘Want to register more attendees’?, but now I understand that is not possible, but the link back will be the same as clicking x in the top right corner would be optimal.

Thank you again.

Yes thats correct and Yes it will override EE’s default MO file.

What is the full filename you are using for the MO file?

It should be event-espresso-4-{locale}.mo

Sure, for that you’ll need a snippet like this:

Hi again, thank you for your snippet, worked brilliantly.

Figured out what was wrong with the translation, when downloading your language-file, the {locale} were wrong, it missed two letters. Earlier I tried with the right one, but nothing happened, but that were probably because the file it self were wrong, so everything ok. Thank you again, Tony.

Ah, I see yeah.

GlotPress (which our translation site runs) has a few quirks that we haven’t ironed out, so worth doublechecking the downloads have the correct locale set.

Anyway, I’m glad its working for you now.

Any further problems please let us know.
