When a registration purchase is made and the credit card information changes, does EE retain all original transaction data or does transactional data get updated when the card information is changed?
we have currently been experiencing an issue where the credit card information that is stored on the transaction information in EE is different from the information FirstData has. We have also had recent refunds that have had to occur after holding the registrations for many months. Our concern is the data is being changed with the credit card company and the data is being updated in one location, but not the other. I am basically trying to figure out if EE takes a snapshot of the original data that passes through (Credit Card Type, Name on Card, email associated with cards) or if their data is updated as any card information is updated.
FirstData is an Onsite payment method, meaning the form is displayed on your site and the user inputs their payment details into the form. Whatever is set in that form is captured and saved to the attendee (after been ‘cleaned’ to only store data we should be).
Updating card details outside of Event Espresso isn’t going to update the details within EE.
However, as the details are saved to the database, if the same attendee registers on Event A with Card A, then on Event B with Card B, both may then show the details for Card B.
Does that sound like it’s what may be happening here?
