The Upcoming Events Widget is great. Is there anyway to also have a Today’s Event’s Widget? |
Hi Shannon, This isn’t actually possibly without customization of the dashboard widget, and currently we don’t have a solution for that right now. I will add it to the feature request list so our developers can have a look. |

Thanks Jonathan. |
You can, however, accomplish the same thing in the existing dashboard widget by setting it to only display events in the next day. http://d.pr/i/C2Jq |

That’s an interesting idea. Not sure if I understand completely. Can the dashboard widget be used to display events in the sidebar? |

I think there was some confusion here. The Upcoming Events Widget can also be shown in the WordPress dashboard for the benefit of the Admin to see what events are coming up soon. This can be turned on from the General Settings and it can be limited to a period of days. Currently the front facing sidebar version cannot be limited in that way. There is a workaround, but it is a bit hackish. If you copy the widgets.php file from plugins/event-espresso/templates to the wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates folder and then change the code in that file to the one found here (all of it) what it will do is link the dashboard widget to the front end. So, when you set the General Settings > Show the Upcoming Events widget in the dashboard? to Yes and set the number of days, the front end widget will follow suit and display the events for those number of days. (note: I have found a small bug where the number of days in the settings page doesnt change from 30. If you look at the dashboard page it shows the correct number, ill get a ticket raised for fixing that, but it doesnt affect it from working.) |

Wicked! Thanks Dean!!! |

Woah – that really messed up my front page! Not sure if I did everything correctly. I’ll give it another shot and let you know. |

OK, let me know. If no joy, revert back to the original file and let me know your site address and theme, I can see if its something I have done or a conflict. Like I said it was a bit of a hackish fix, that seemed to work well on Twentyeleven theme. |
