I noticed you have the ticketing and barcode scanning up on the website now. I am still using EE3 (latest version), and I wanted to know if the tickets created and sold under EE3, would work on the new EE4 platform?
Also is there anymore information you might have about the stability or development for these on EE4? This is literally the thing I have been waiting for to make the migration.

Hi there,
Tickets created and sold under EE3 will only work with the apps designed to be used with EE3 (ie the JSON API and the mobile IOS/Android apps).
As far as stability goes, once they are through beta testing and considered stable they’ll be officially released.

Thank you for the reply Josh. Is there any way to convert EE3 tickets to EE4? Our event is in May, so most people haven’t printed their tickets yet, but we have sold over 600 memberships. I really want to take advantage of the new system, but I would prefer not to have to wait until after our 2015 event.

Hi there,
You would have to send out new tickets because the EE3 tickets have QR codes, and the EE4 ticket scanner is programmed to read bar codes.

Is there a way to send out new barcodes to everyone if I installed EE4?

Hi there,
I am not sure. The ee4 ticketing add-on was not designed to send tickets made from EE3 registrations. Although there is the migration feature that will migrate the EE3 data to EE4. I can suggest setting up a test server where you could run the migration on the dev server and try out EE4 and thick ticketing pre-release there while it’s still in beta.
