Ticket selector on mobile

Hi – I’ve just realised that the ticket selector cuts off on a mobile. There’s isn’t even a scroll bar, so the ticket number dropdown cuts off and the Register button isn’t there at all.

Is there different code to allow it to be responsive on a mobile? I can’t upload a screenshot here so let me know if you need one.

Hi there,

May I ask which device you are using?

I tested your site emulating devices in Chrome and didn’t see any issue, then viewed the site using my S8 and didn’t have any issues.

It’s a Samsung 7 I think. If I could upload a screenshot I could show you.

You can add screenshots, you need to host the image somewhere and post a link, see:

Thanks – here it is – https://www.lexicommunications.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/tickets.jpg

It’s from https://www.lexicommunications.com.au/conference/brisbane-conference/

Ah, ok, that is different from the default output which is what I was looking at, here:

https://www.lexicommunications.com.au/events/brisbane-conference-2018/

That page is using the iframe embed code for the ticket selector, which is intended more for displaying the ticket selector on a different site than the one you have EE installed on.

If you swap out the code for the ticket selector to use the [ESPRESSO_TICKET_SELECTOR event_id=xx] shortcode, does it work better then?

(Rather than clicking on the ’embed ticket selector’ button use the ‘shortcode’ button – http://take.ms/4SrpC)

Ok thanks. Yes the shortcode does seem to work on a mobile now.

On a desktop (most of my customers because it’s workplace training) it’s a bit rough in terms of elegance compared to what I had with the iframe:

Before: https://www.lexicommunications.com.au/conference/brisbane-conference/

After: https://www.lexicommunications.com.au/conference/perth-conference/

I assume I’ll need to sacrifice a nice look for the selector actually working on mobile?

The ticket selector shortcode relies on your theme’s styling to try and keep in line with your theme’s styling.

The iframe is forced to apply styling as it can’t use the styles from the site it is displayed on as its an iframe.

I assume I’ll need to sacrifice a nice look for the selector actually working on mobile?

Not necessarily, you just need some additional styling as your theme doesn’t really style tables how you’d prefer. The iframe output has none of your theme’s styling applied, the shortcode does.

I can give you some styles you can apply to the site to have it look a little more like the iframe output if that’ll help?
