Hello,

Do tickets that have successfully passed the registration state but not the checkout state ever get released back into the system? E.g. someone fills out all of the registration questions but abandons during the checkout.

I’ve noticed that tickets added to the shopping cart will get released back into the system after 1 hour, but it doesn’t seem to be the same if the registration stage is completed.

Hi there,

May I ask how you’re coming to this conclusion? Are you looking at the Rsrvd column count?

Yes, I’m looking at the client-side event page.

I have a test event setup that allows 100 registrations. This event has two types of tickets (free and a $10 ticket).

I successfully purchased 4 tickets (2 free and 2 $10 tickets). So, the available tickets correctly updates and only allows someone to purchase 96 tickets (of either kind of ticket) on the client side.

In my next test, I added 4 tickets (2 free and 2 $10 tickets). This correctly reduces the number of available client-side tickets on the event page to 92 available tickets. I took this a step further and completed the registration (custom questions) but during checkout, where it asks what payment type we want to use, I abandoned. So the client side ticket count on that event page stayed at 92.

Oddly, at the time of writing this, it just now updated and went back to 96. However, my test time was 20 hours ago.

So, I guess my new question is, how long do these types of tickets stay reserved?

A bit more than one hour, and instead of viewing the counts on the front end, I recommend looking at the Rsrvd column on the ticket/datetime editor box. That count will go to 0 when there are no reserved tickets.

How exactly can we see the reserved column? I’m on the event editor page and I have several columns (e.g. price, qty, sold, regs) but I can’t see a reserved column.

You must have an out of date version of Event Espresso 4 then. The Rsrvd column was added a while ago. Can you update to the current version?

I just updated and we have the column now.
