Dear Support,
I have created an event called “Partner Ticket” this event is to allow partners to come along and do something totally different from their husband/wife who will be attending the main conference event, the space that I have setup for the Partner Ticket event is 100, although because this event has 4 tickets that people can buy to attend individual tours dinner and welcome drinks, to which I have setup a limit of 100 places for each ticket, I feel that the 100 places setup for the even is wrong and I should increase it. Could you guys advice me if I am right to think that I should increase the event number or…?

Hi Andy,
One thing to consider is that an event can track the total number of spots that should be available across all datetimes and the tickets for those datetimes.
For example, you could have an event that has a max capacity of 100 and then various tickets that can be bought. However, once 100 registrants have registered across any amount of tickets, then no additional sales will be allowed.
If you are using a separate event, then you won’t be able to accurately track the total number of spots.
Using your example for the partner ticket event that was created, if the total capacity is 100, then I would raise it higher because a guest may buy a tour along with a drink and that would be considered two tickets just for one person.

That’s exactly what I thought.
I keep coming across this datetimes, but do not really understand what they are and what I should use them for, could you be so kind to explain to me in very simple words?

Hi,
Think of a datetime as the total spaces that are available for an event. For example, the max for a datetime for an event could be 100.
Tickets are then attached to datetimes.
You can set various quantities available for tickets but once any amount of ticket sales reach 100, then no additional registrations would be allowed.
For example, lets say these tickets were attached:
Standard
VIP
Then these quantities were sold:
Standard – 50
VIP – 25
That would be 75 tickets between those ticket options so there would be just 25 spots available for the datetime (100 – 75 = 25).
