We have a slightly different scenario where a business owner could buy buying 10 tickets for his staff but where he isn’t actually attending the event himself.
In the case the Primary Registrant is not an attendee.
Its not officially supported within EE at this time, but it is possible to set this up using custom questions.
You would need to create a new custom question group containing the details you need from the purchaser (at least email) and assign that question group to the ‘Primary Registrant’ question group within the event.
When the user registers onto the event EE will ask all of the standard questions it does currently, but then will also request any question you have user in the ‘purchaser’ question group within the primary registrant questions.
During registration it would look something like THIS.
You can then edit the payment related emails use the email address provided within those custom questions, in that example you could use the shortcode:
[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_*Billing department email address] to send the emails to the billing contact.
But wouldn’t it still make the primary contact an attendee?
The ‘primary contact’ would just be a set of question questions assigned to the Primary Registrant (which would be the first attendee details) so no they would not be an attendee.
So could/should I just disable this functionality?
I’m not sure how that would work, you simply want to select the tickets within the EE ticket selector and then be directed to your own page?
You’ll basically need to create your own ticket selector and manage updating the registration/transaction yourself.
