Running into issues with email sending. I have looked through other topics on this in the forums but can’t seem to find any that match up exactly.
The error I am getting is:

The following errors have occurred:
The email did not send successfully.
The WordPress wp_mail function is used for sending mails but does not give any useful information when an email fails to send.
It is possible the “to” address (halfftravis@gmail.com) or “from” address (nancy@gardeningvolunteers.org) is invalid.
The test message was not sent

I have tried with a variety of emails, but none work. Any idea what the issue is? I just installed the plugin a week ago, so it has never worked (as opposed to breaking with an update or something like that).
It could be the From address needs to match the domain. Have you tried sending email via the WordPress password reset form? Does that work? If not, you could set up a transactional email service for sending the email.
In most cases, setting up a transactional service to deliver email will resolve this. The built-in mail servers (especially those that are used for shared hosting accounts) can be unreliable. It may be your server doesn’t even have a built-in mail server (it happens). In any case, we recommend using a service like Mandrill, Postmark, or any of the other services listed in our documentation for sending transactional email. More info here:
Alternatively, you could also use a gmail account and configure a plugin like the WP Mail SMTP plugin to send the emails.
