Hello,
We are trying to edit the templates for event espresso but are having issues. We have tried a few different things (copying the files over and editing them, editing the actual main files, making simple edits to see if it’s the plugin or wordpress) and have had no luck. What are ways we can troubleshoot to see what exactly is going on and what is preventing the templates from being edited?
WP Version: 3.8
Event Espresso: 3.1.35.1.P (can’t update because it’s on a dev server and the site is not live yet)
Any information is appreciated – thanks!

Hi Richard,
It turns out that you can update on a development server, and we highly recommend doing so to avoid any surprises after you go live:

Usually what I find is if I change a template file and the edits aren’t happening it’s either a) a caching plugin is installed or b) I edited a file that’s not being loaded up (eg, the wrong file).
If you can give us more specifics such as “I’m editing line 206 of the file located at /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates/ name registration_page_display.php but my changes aren’t showing up” we can take a look and advise.

Hi Rich,
It appears that your customized templates are indeed loading. This is an html comment in the source:

May I ask what part(s) of the templates that you’re editing and what you’re expecting the edit(s) to do?
