I’m sure I’m missing something obvious but I just cant figure out how to add tax to my tickets.

All tickets have to have 20% tax, so it would be good if I could set this globally and not have to switch it on for each ticket. I dont see anywhere to set the percentage amount for the price type and (even though I want it to be automatic) I also don’t see the checkbox on my tickets to tell them its taxable…

What am I missing?

Hi Zoe,

Step 1 is you set your tax amount by going to Event Espresso > Pricing and if there’s not already a price set up for tax, you click the Add New Default Price button. There you set the Type (select one of the tax options, or create your own in the price types tab). You also set the amount there.

Then, you go to the event editor, and go to the ticket editor. You click the gear for advanced ticket settings. You’ll see a few checkboxes here. You check the box next to “This ticket is taxable” and “use this new ticket as a default ticket for any new events”. This will make all new event tickets automatically apply the tax.

Thanks Josh, got that working. Do you know where the ticket/tax relationship is stored in the database? We’re adding lots of dates via the database (as they are auto pulled down from a CRM) so I need to know where the data is stored.

Cheers!

Ticket specific data is stored in _esp_ticket.
Price specific data (including taxes) is stored in _esp_price
The relationships between the two are stored in _esp_ticket_price
