Surcharge showing as part of the subtotal not separated cost from ticket price

My issue is that the surcharge is showing as subtotal not separately itemized from ticket price. See the example on site https://eventespresso.com/features/tax-administration/ . I have a Port tax surcharge that is a flat rate per ticket plus provincial sales taxes to apply. I need the Port tax to show as this is “government cost” beyond my net price. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello, the link that you shared is from Event Espresso 4 which has more flexibility for taxes than Event Espresso 3.

What version of Event Espresso are you currently using?

I am using EE4 as EE3 did not support surcharge (tax) plus a regular surcharge (before the tax). see jq.cloudport.ca and the Adult tickets meant to be 72.95 and 54.95 plus 10.495 port tax (surcharge flat rate).

Hi,

If this is a fee that will apply to all events, then the best way to go about it is like this:

* Go to Pricing > Price Types tab
* Click the Add New Default Pricing Type button at the top
* Set the Basic Type to Surcharge, give it a name, set as Fixed and give it an order ( order determines when the charge will be applied, ie before other taxes or after or in between two taxes) – then save.
* Go to the Default Pricing tab
* Click Add New Default Pricing button at the top
* Type = the “Default Pricing Type” you just created. Add a name and in the amount add the value (so 10.95 in your case). Save.

Now when you create a new event that price modifier will be automatically added for you. Screenshot of front end http://take.ms/2Seqi

For existing events, you will need to manually add the Price Modifer by clicking the Settings (cog) icon for each of the tickets and Add Price Modifier button

Hi. Thanks for the reply. However, I need the base price listed for the event (i.e. 72.95 for the adult ticket – to show on all event posts and then later show – port surcharge of $10.49 (taxable) plus the HST (tax) at 13%, ideally when they checkout. So the purchaser should be looking at the base cost when seeing the event. At this link you can see that ee4 shows the total, then a breakdown, I want the base price (72.95), then ticket breakdown OR ticket breakdown when we reach the shopping cart purchase only (even better), http://jq.cloudport.ca/events/fathers-day-dinner-cruise/

Hi there,

It turns out there is a filter that allows for changing how the prices are displayed in the ticket selector. There’s a readymade code snippet that you can add to your theme’s functions.php file or into a custom snippets plugin. After you add this code, it will then display the base price without the surcharge.

Here’s a link to that code snippet in our documentation.

Is there a similar option to have taxes as percentage added plus a surcharge (port tax as a flat fee) for EE3 and to have only base price show as ticket price without the surcharge or tax, before the grand total, plus the ability to procew. Essentially so base price showing on ticket, then surcharge and taxes. Then I would use the coupon code when needed for events. Almost all events would have coupon codes. As such I just need one solution for event management to cover Coupon Codes, Moneris Cdn payment interface, taxes, plus surcharge to the same ticket, plus port surcharge.

Hi there,

It turns out Event Espresso 3 doesn’t support adding taxes + surcharge as line items. It adds surcharge only.

You’re welcome to test out the promotion code add-on for EE4 which is currently in beta. We’re working hard to get the last batch of tickets finished up so promotions can be officially released, and we’re more than happy to hear any feedback you have about how the promotion code feature works.

Hello. Does the Promotions Add-on support V4.6 production core version of EE4? I was recommended to use production version not EE4 core V4.8 (Beta).

Hi,

The promotions add-on will not activate on Event Espresso 4.6. It requires Event Espresso 4.8.

I need this for a production site. Not just for test. What can I use for production or what is the timeline for a production version. I am stuck as I purchased EE3 for all of this and it does not work. Please send me a link to the production version of V4.8 EE4 core. Only beta of 4.8 was available of EE4.

Hi, there is some confusion on what is production ready. We cannot recommend pre-release software for live sites. We are currently testing out the promotions add-on and fixing bugs as we find them.

Software is transitioned out of the pre-release channel once we are confident that is it ready for production use.

What can I use now? I purchased the business licence based upon the features mentioned without the evidence of the limitation on EE3 for only one surcharge (could not do taxes and plus surcharge). I was forced to go with EE4 to deal with taxes but it cannot deal with coupon codes/promo codes.
