suppress "View Cart" in the popup screen after you add events

Some of the users of the website are getting an “empty cart” even after placing an order in the cart. I tried to replicate the issue and I was able to make it reoccur one time only and then unable to replicate it. the sequence:
– make multiple selections (because have many events on same page)
– add to cart
– a popup appears with 3 options …click on view cart
– on the view cart screen, click “return to events list”
– add another item to the cart
– get the popup and press “View cart” …It gives you an empty cart
– go back to “return to event list” add more items
– view cart …shows empty cart.
– I hit ctrl-f5 and did the same thing…then the cart became visible.

I am not sure what happened. some users are telling me it is still happening. One of the suggestion was to take out “View Cart” option on the popup screen (that has 3 choices). then you are left with 2 options: “return to events list” and “Proceed to registration”. How can we accomplish this?

Also, has anyone reported the “empty cart” issue before?

Thank you in advance.

Hi there,

Removing the ‘View cart’ button will not fix this as the problem is caused by caching, the ‘View Cart’ button is just allowing you to see it, so it’s a symptom rather than the cause.

I get the same issue when I try to register onto your site without viewing the cart at all, simply selecting a ticket and proceeding to registration I get ‘Nothing in your event queue’. Which is expected when caching is enabled on the site as EE needs to be excluded and if you have object caching enabled, that will also need to be disabled.

So starting with the beginning, may I ask who your host is?

Hi,

You can follow this guide to turn off the object caching:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-nocache-exclusion-rules-event-espresso/#managedwphosting

The object caching needs to be turned off in order to avoid the empty cart.
