Super slow site speed

We upgraded to 3.1.33.2P a couple months ago and we have had slow site speed ever since.  The average load time on an event page is 6 seconds.  We are currently on Hostgator.  We tested the site on our Rack Space test server and we get the same results.  Any thoughts?  We tried bumping up the memory to 64mb, but that did not help.  Any help would be great!  Our site is book-events.com.

Hi there,

I might need a clarification: Event Espresso 3.1.33.2 was released last week Friday. Which version of Event Espresso did you install two months ago?

I am sorry.  I am on 3.1.32.P.

Can you post a link to the page where it’s taking 6 seconds?

I went to:

http://book-events.com/all-events/

and it loaded up pretty fast, in the footer of the source of the page it shows:

<!-- 58 queries in 0.309 seconds, using 26.55MB memory -->

https://book-events.com/event-registration/?ee=69

The site runs great until I access any of the EE pages.  Above is a link that takes 5+ seconds to load.  If you click on any of the events, they take a while to load.

Also, try adding the event to the shopping cart.  There is a long delay as well.

It looks like it’s the https redirect that’s slowing things down, which includes the add to cart link as it’s https too. The page you linked to itself is being generated in 0.713 seconds.

So what is the best way to resolve that.  We are currently using the https Event Espresso plug in.  I know you suggest using the one with WordPress, but when we tested it, our site did not work.  Thanks for all of your help with this!!

I don’t know the best way to resolve it. You could try the better WP security plugin as an alternative. The Event Espresso https plugin is a fork of the WordPress HTTPS plugin from a version that was released ~ 1 1/2 years ago and is no longer supported.

Please see this guide for more info:

Thanks for the help!  Better WP Security did the trick!
