My client has an existing site structure like this:

/events
/events/calendar
/events/annual-meeting
/events/conferences

When I install Events Espresso (EE 4.4.5.p) it takes over /events, which is nice. However, all of the sub-pages now return 404 errors.

Are you aware of any way to work around this issue so that my client can keep her url structure and SEO ranking on these pages?

Thanks.

Hi Clare,

The only way to achieve this is to rename the EE events custom post type to something other than “events”.

We have a guide on how to do it here – https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-events-cpt-slug/

Thanks Dean. I’d rather keep the /events slug so I guess I’ll just implement a 301 redirect.

Hi Clare, you could use the tutorial that Dean shared to rename the events slug for Event Espresso. That would free up your existing parent page and child pages.

Another option is to copy the content for those pages over to a new parent page and child page and then use a redirect. A plugin like Redirection could help you with this.

Thanks

Lorenzo
