stripe gateway payment issue — credit card name different than attendee name

We are on wordpress 4.4 using Event Espresso Version 4.8.22.p with Event Espresso – Stripe Gateway (EE 4.6.0+) Version 1.0.11.p.

We often have education administrators purchasing tickets for teachers at their school. So, the name of the billing contact is different than the name of the attendee.

When users fill out the event espresso form, the first attendee name is automatically passed to the Stripe payment gateway form. There is no way for the customer to correct the name that appears in the Stripe payment gateway form. This is causing an issue as the name passed to stripe does not match the name associated with the credit card, and customers are having their transaction declined.

What is the best way to resolve this issue?

Hi Joshua,
Are you using a customized version of the Stripe gateway or another plugin that also adds a Stripe integration to the site? The reason I ask is because the normally the email address (and optionally billing address) is passed to the Stripe payment gateway form from the EE registration form.

If you’re seeing issues where the customer has their card declined, it may be because the billing zip code/billing address doesn’t match. You can set Validate the billing ZIP code? and Collect the user’s billing address? to No in the Event Espresso > Payment Methods > Stripe settings.
