Hi there,

We actually did not advise to “move the site to a safer domain”. The advice was, and still is, to disable the caching mechanism. I just checked your site and the caching mechanism is still in place.

This, and a few other reasons is why GoDaddy hosting is not recommended. That said, GoDaddy hosting can work, but the caching must be disabled to allow the registration process to function.

You can contact the folks at GoDaddy and ask them to disable the caching. They should not need to move your site, they only need to remove the object-cache file located in the wp-content folder. There are specific instructions here:

that’s great, as I have emails from your people telling me to have them switch my domain…costing me more money! this is horrible.

Hi Debbie,

This is a copy of the email I sent to you last week about this:

Hi Debbie,

I can advise contacting GoDaddy support, and give them this request:

Please configure the object caching to allow PHP sessions to maintain state on my website. If the web server cannot maintain session state, please migrate my website to a web server that allows the sessions to maintain state. Thank you.

Hope that helps!

Best,

We agree that GoDaddy website hosting can be a horrible experience, and that’s why we have a list of recommended hosts here:

Hey Debbie,

Everything in that statement is related to the web server, no where does it say to move the domain.

I’m sorry for the confusion, and I’m sorry you’re having a rough go with GoDaddy hosting.

Can you check with them and see if they’ve actually moved your site to a different hosting platform? If they moved the domain that’s not going to be of any help.

Please let us know if you need any further clarification about what to ask GoDaddy, or if you need help with transferring to another host.

The problems you’re having with the Event Espresso registration form will be resolved after the caching mechanism is out of the equation.
