Hi there, I would like to understand why some of our registrations get the “Pending payment” status? Our payment Gateway is supposed to bypass this status… They’re supposed to be “Approved” automaticaly… Thanks! |
Hi there, The registrations that currently show as ‘Pending Payment’, have you checked if a payment was received for those?
Which payment method are you using? |
|
|
We use the “Invoice” method, we do not accept online payment this year, so the registrations are supposed to be automatically “Approved”. What’s strange is, the majority of our registrations are OK and get the “Approved” status, they follow the workflow, but only some don’t… Is there something the participant do to make it change? |
The invoice payment method itself does not automatically set registrations to Approved, however I’m guessing you have the ‘Default Registration Status’ set to Approved within the event? It’s the setting shown here as ‘Pending payment’ – http://take.ms/vDYz6
If a user enters their registration details but then doesn’t select a payment method and ‘finalize’ the registration they will remain as pending payment. So it could be the users are not clicking to Finalize the registrations. Can you link me to an event I can run a couple of test registrations on? |

I understand, yes the “Default Registration Status” is set to “Approved” for this event. It’s like the system is sending the registration with a “Pending Payment” status when they hit “Finilize registration” without checking the payment method (event though they can’t continue because of the popup msg)… Unfortunatly, we are just a couple days before our event, so I can’t test it on this event right now because it’s really active… |
That’s not how it works within EE, the payment method does NOT set the registration status, the transaction/payment does when used with an online payment method, an offline payment method (like Invoice) just uses the events Default Registration Status (DRS for short). Online payment methods (like Stripe etc) trigger a status update because they collect a payment, the payment being applied to the transaction and the total_amount_paid == amount_owed triggers a status update… NOT the act of selecting the payment method.
That doesn’t mean then actually click the finalize registration button though right? If you view one of these Pending Payment registrations, then view its transaction you can view the txn session details, does it show up like this? – http://take.ms/B5WzP |

This is an example of one registration with the pending payment status: |
You need to view the transaction for that registration (click the ‘View Transaction’ button on that page you’ve shown) Then click to view the txn session details – http://take.ms/etkTC

Like this: http://grics.ca/img/pending2.jpg |
Ok, open up the session details and view the steps – http://take.ms/tmyrDd Does it looks like this – http://take.ms/B5WzP |

Yep, exactly like this! |
Then it sounds like some of your users are not clicking to finalize the registration. The default registration status only kicks in when the registration is finalized (for various reasons) so the registration will not update to ‘Approved’ when they don’t click that button. Are you able to reproduce the same problem if you run a test registration and then stop before clicking to finalize? |
