HI. I have the same issue on EE4. The publish button (for new events) and update button (for migrated events from EE3) is dead. |
|
Hi, I made this a new thread as it did not match the original query on the other thread (https://eventespresso.com/topic/ee4-registration-not-working/#post-81113) Please can you advise what version of EE3 you upgraded from and what version of EE4 you upgraded to? Also what browser are you using? |
|
Hello Dean, I originally had installed the latest EE3 version directly from WP (it’s the one now in my site and working as expected). I purchased and downloaded the latest EE4 version. I’m on a Mac, using Chrome, Safari, and Firefox (same problem with all three of them). |
|
Hi. I installed EE3 version 3.1.36.4.L and EE4 Version 4.1.4.reg. I am editing using Safari Version 7.0.1 (9537.73.11). Hoping for a speedy resolution. |
Would it be possible for you send us the system information available within Event Espresso -> Maintenance. System Information Tab. Copy the information within ‘Raw System Data’ and send a copy to support@eventespresso.com with a reference to this thread please. This is to help us investigate possible causes. |

Hi Tony. I’ve done what you requested and sent the raw data to your support email. Reza |

Hello Tony I just send the information as requested. Looking forward to get some resolution on this issue. Thank you for your help. Regards, Jorge |
Hi Reza, Can you try temporarily deactivating all of the plugins with the exception of Event Espresso 4, W3 total cache, and Jetpack? We’d like to rule out whether there’s a plugin conflict with any of those other plugins. |
|
|
HI Josh. I’ve done as requested. Deactivated all plugins except for the ones you mentioned. No joy. Button still inactive. Reza |

Some good news here. Following the instructions to use WP 3.8.1 I just installed EE4 on my test site and everything works great (with the same main plugins that I’m using in my primary site). I’m able to create and edit pages and venues, register clients etc. Now the scary part (upgrading my true site to 3.8.1). Let me do a full backup and start the party. Will keep you posted after I complete the upgrade and re-installation of EE4 on the main site. My thanks to the EE team for their quick responses and support. Jorge |

That’s good news Jorge. I am already on 3.8.1. Still no joy. Reza |
Hi Reza, I see from the system info that you sent that it’s saying the WordPress admin is set up to load as https? Is that set up via a plugin or was that defined in the wp-config.php file? Can you also a temporary switch to one of the twenty* themes? You can switch without changing anything for the site’s visitors by installing the theme test drive plugin. This will help narrow down what’s causing the issue. |
|
|
Hi Josh. Don’t know about https. I didn’t set i ti up like that and no plugin will do it either (as far as I know). I will use The Test Drive and see what happens. Get back to you shortly. Reza |

OK. The button is alive and kicking. Switching themes didn’t work. So I started tinkering around. To cut a long story short, I deactivated Jetpacks Spelling and Grammar functionality and the button worked. I’m going to start creating events now and will update here if anything goes wrong but I think everything is OK. |
Hi Reza, This is interesting because I have the Jetpack Spelling and Grammar feature activated and the event’s publish and update buttons are working as expected. There may be one component that’s on your site (maybe another plugin) that’s tied into this issue because I do notice that when I click “Update” on an event post there’s a slight delay and the proofread button toggles to edit text for a second; The event still saves though. |

|
Hi Josh I tried to reactivate the spelling and grammar feature and the button died again. Mystery to me. Reza |
Hi Reza, It may be another script from the theme or another plugin that’s causing the conflict. |

Hi Josh I just thought I update you on this/ Jetpack has just released update 2.9.1 with the following bug fix, Bugfix: After the Deadline: Fix a Javascript glitch that could prevent publishing of posts. I have installed the update and tested the publishing button and I can confirm that the buttons are working as per normal. Reza |
Thank you for following up on this Reza. |
