Hi, I’ve got to sort my events by something other than dates.
Currently I’m just making a new category for every event and then showing them like this:
[EVENT_ESPRESSO_CATEGORY event_category_id=”confb”]
but that’s awkward. Is there a way to sort them by one of the event meta boxes (or do you have a suggestion)?
thanks!

Hi Glen,

The order by parameters are listed here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/shortcodes-template-variables/#event-list

Since you’re already using categories, you might try something like:

[EVENT_LIST order_by=category_id, id]

Hi,
Yes, I saw that and was worried about this:
Important: The [EVENT_LIST] shortcode should not be used as a replacement for the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode. Replacing the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode will break your registration pages.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Glen,

No need to worry about that. What that means is if you want to use the [EVENT_LIST] shortcode, by all means please use it on a new page. Then what you can do is hide the page with the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode from the site’s navigation menu.
