This likely from contact form 7 as it’s loading its own reCaptcha on every page which will then override the EE field and fail validation.

You mentioned you tried with no other plugins, did you start a fresh registration or just refresh the page to test?

Temporarily de-activate CF7 and start a new registration whilst logged out, do you still get the same error? If so can you leave CF7 disabled so I can view the page without it.

Hi there,

My apologies for the delay.

I think we’ll need to add some debug code to the site to see what is happening here as the response now looks correct.

One thing that does come to mind is allow_url_fopen, has that been disabled on your server? If so you’ll need to request your host enable it as it can prevent the request from validating.

If allow_url_fopen is enabled on the server I’d like to take a quick look at this, add some debug code to the recaptcha code and see what is actually being return. To do that I’ll need the details requested here:

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

Side note – We view support threads based on reply date and work from the bottom-up meaning threads that have been waiting the longest will usually be seen first. Bumping (as above) will generally have the opposite effect than intended as it effectively puts your thread at the back of the queue again so its part of the reason for the delay.

Hi,

As we contacted hosting allow_url_fopen is enabled. I just shared the login details of our site at a shared URL here “https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/”.

Thank you, allow_url_fopen is not enabled on your server and that is causing the issue above.

I created a file within your site and used phpinfo(); to output your servers config, this was returned:

allow_url_fopen Off (local) Off (global)

That would show On if it had been enabled.

I’ve applied a patch to the version running on your site to force reCaptcha to use Curl and it now works. If your host can properly enable allow_url_fopen it should switch over to using the method within core again and continue to work.
