I installed EE 4 and can see everything just fine.
I called my client who has a distinct WP admin login. They got into the dashboard and claimed that they couldn’t see the Event Espresso menu at the bottom left side of the screen. Kinda confused. Is there an easy fix/common problem or should I assume my client is doing something really weird?

Hi there,
Does the client’s admin account have the manage_options capability set on their account?
EE doesn’t check for specific roles, it checks for capabilities and the manage_options cap is used for the admin menu item and most other areas of Event Espresso.

This one was on me. The person in question did not have administrator privileges in WordPress. I updated them and am waiting to hear back. Thanks for the help.
