Sold Out Events that are not sold out

This recurring problem is really biting us in the backside. I can’t trust EE anymore because I constantly have to check that the events are not being falsely shown as sold out.

I’ve seen on another thread (though I couldn’t follow all as it was complicated and I’m not a coder) that there might be some issues related to multi-event registration.

Please, we really need help with this. I am having to massively increase the availability of ticket sales to avoid selling out, but then have to check because we are afraid of overselling.

Hi mpurse,

This is a known issue that’s added by the Multi Event Registration add-on and there’s a branch of Event Espresso 4 core that includes a fix so that any tickets added by the cart, then abandoned, will automatically get released back into the inventory. You’re welcome to download that branch and install it on your site:

We’ve just removed the Multi Event Registration plugin completely.

Do I still need this fix?

Will you include the fix in future updates?

We’ve installed the new core and nothing has happened to the sold out courses, except we now see a ‘reserved’ ticket status that wasn’t there before. What does that do? And how do I ensure these aren’t taking up spaces?

I’ll follow up with each of your questions below:

Do I still need this fix?

For now, yes.

Will you include the fix in future updates?

Yes after it’s been tested it will be merged into the release candidate and included in the update following the merge.

What does that do?

The reserved count column shows you exactly how many tickets are reserved.

And how do I ensure these aren’t taking up spaces?

The branch you have installed right now does a better job at releasing reserved tickets back into the inventory. It doesn’t automatically remove older stuck reserved tickets though. It does add a button that you can click on to remove the older stuck reserved tickets. You go to Event Espresso > Maintenance > Reset and click on the Reset Ticket and Datetime Reserved Counts button.

Woop! The last step sorted it out. Thanks.

Any idea as to when this branch/patch might be applied to the WP plugin updates? I’m just looking for a days, weeks, months type estimate. I’d rather not update to the branch, just yet, but if it’s going to be months out, I might give it a shot. I too am seeing the tickets that aren’t be released back (abandoned cart or even self created test tickets that are then deleted). Thanks!

Parts of the work done (specifically the reset button on the Maintenance > Reset page) are in the current master branch, which is the release candidate. The release candidate could be released at any time, even today. There are other parts that are exclusively in the
BUG-10537-cart-ticket-reservations and those parts are still being worked on and I don’t have an estimate for when they’ll be merged.
